Fighting cancer with a virus? Koch Institute faculty member, James Mason Crafts Professor, and renowned bioengineer Angela Belcher has been internationally lauded for her nature-inspired, engineered devices in medicine, energy, fuel, and more. Now, she has her sights set on cancer prevention through the early detection and detailed monitoring of the disease using a virus-driven probe developed in her interdisciplinary laboratory at the KI.
In this exciting evening of interactive demonstrations and networking, Professor Belcher and her trainees took us up close and personal with the future of cancer research, exploring how biologists and engineers can come together under one roof to accelerate new solutions for one of the great biomedical challenges of the 21st century.
This program was the first in a series of special with/in/sight events celebrating our fifth anniversary and highlighting five pillars of progress in MIT's integrative approach to cancer research.
