KI COVID-era Protocols for In-Person Public Events

The Koch Institute abides by all MIT policies and protocols. The following is a summary of key points for public-facing events hosted by the Koch Institute. Please visit the MIT Now website for the most comprehensive and updated policies.

Key Points

In order to access MIT’s campus and MIT-sponsored events via the Tim Tickets system (MIT’s visitor pass system), invited visitors and event attendees must provide contact information and attest to being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or having a religious belief or medical condition that prevents them from receiving the vaccine. Effective January 14, 2022, Tim Ticket users who are eligible for a booster vaccination must also attest to having received the booster shot.

Tim Tickets is a separate system from the Koch Institute's event registration process. Both are required to attend Koch Institute events.

Tim Ticket How-To

Get your event-specific link or QR code from the event host to access your event-specific Tim Ticket. Follow these steps to complete your Tim Ticket registration:

  • Click or tap on Visitor.
  • Enter your mobile number and click Send OTP to receive a one-time PIN code via SMS.
  • Enter the PIN code you received and tap Login.
  • Enter your contact details and complete the health attestation.
  • The app will display a QR code you can present to check in to the event

On the day of the event

  • At least 30 minutes before arrival and no more than 23 hours before the event start time, complete your day-of attestation
  • The app will display a QR code you can present to check in to the event

MIT ID-holders

MIT community members (i.e., those who have an MIT ID) are not issued Tim Tickets. A community member will check in by presenting the barcode on the back of their MIT ID card or from within their MIT Atlas mobile app profile, provided all campus access testing and attestation requirements are met at least 30 minutes prior to the event check-in.

To display the barcode in the MIT Atlas mobile app:

  • Tap Menu
  • Tap Profile
  • Tap MIT ID Barcode

Face masks

At this time, masks are optional. We ask that all guests respect the comfort levels of those around them.
